Hong Li, MD, Ph.D.

Associate Professor, Department of Human Genetics and Pediatrics
Emory University School of Medicine

Biography Hong Li, MD, PhD is a clinical and biochemical geneticist in the Division of Medical Genetics. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of genetic disorders with dysmorphic features and intellectual disability. She also treats patients with inherited metabolic disorders, lysosomal storage diseases, genetic disorders with dysmorphic features and intellectual disability.

Education Dr. Li received her PhD from Jichi Medical University in Japan and her MD from Hebei Medical University in China.

Research Dr. Li is the Principal Investigator for the CTCF related disorders study. With her expertise, she aims to establish a more thorough and accurate description of a CTCF patient profile and understand genotype-phenotype correlations of CTCF variants.

Victor G. Corces, Ph.D.

Professor, Department of Human Genetics
Emory University School of Medicine

Biography Victor Corces, PhD is Professor in the Department of Human Genetics at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Corces is a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Professor and a member of the US National Academy of Sciences.

Education Dr. Corces received his PhD from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in Madrid, Spain.

Research Dr. Corces’ research is focused on how chromosomes are arranged in three-dimensional nuclear space, which is determined by the CTCF protein. His lab studies whether this arrangement contains epigenetic information that can be transmitted between generations and how disruption of this organization can lead to disease.

Kathryn Garber, PhD

Assistant Professor, Department of Human Genetics and Pediatrics
Emory University School of Medicine

Biography Kathryn Garber Kate Garber is the Director of Education for the Department of Human Genetics at Emory University School of Medicine and teaches students in the medical school, physician assistant, physical therapy, and genetic counseling programs. She is the former Director of Genomic Analysis at EGL Genetics, a genetic testing laboratory.

Education Dr. Garber earned her PhD from Harvard Medical School in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics.

Research Dr. Garber is interested in the interpretation of DNA sequence for use in patient care and has been involved in national projects to foster consistent DNA sequence interpretation between diagnostic laboratories.

Steven Solan, MD, Ph.D.
Associate Professor, Department of Human Genetics and Pediatrics
Emory University School of Medicine

Biography Steven Sloan, MD, PhD is Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Genetics at Emory University School of Medicine.

Education Dr. Sloane received his MD and PhD from Stanford University.

Research Dr. Sloan’s lab uses brain organdies and state-of-the-art approaches in genome engineering, stem cell biology, and imaging, to understand the role of glial cells in neural development and in neurodevelopment disorders such as autism and schizophrenia.

Postdoctoral Fellow | Victor Corces Lab
Emory University School of Medicine
Department of Human Genetics

Biography Hsiao-Lin Wang, PhD, a NIH-NIEHS Postdoctoral Fellow at Dr. Victor Corces lab in the Department of Human Genetics at Emory University School of Medicine.

Education Dr. Wang received her PhD from University of Missouri-Kansas City, USA.

Research Dr. Wang studies epigenetic alterations caused by mutations in CTCF and their relationship to patients’ clinical phenotypes, including epilepsy and autism. She is also interested how in utero exposure to environmental factors can affect the development of the embryo.

Gabriela Valverde de Morales, MD, MMSc
Research Coordinator | Emory CRD Center

Biography Gabriela Valverde de Morales is the Research Coordinator for the CRD Center and the main contact for families interested in participating in our research and becoming part of our community.

Education Dr. Valverde de Morales received her MD from Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala City, Guatemala and her MMSc in Genetic Counseling from the Emory University School of Medicine.

Research Dr. Valverde de Morales is part of the team studying the clinical features of CTCF variants and is focusing on developing a patient profile and the facial gestalt of patients with CTCF-Related Disorder (CRD).

Meredith Fuchs, BS
Assistant Coordinator | Emory CRD Center

Biography Meredith is an assistant coordinator for the CRD Center and a point of contact for new and participating families interested in learning more about this study.

Education Meredith received her B.S. in Genetics from the University of Georgia and is currently a medical student at Emory University School of Medicine. She is interested in pursuing a residency in Pediatrics and Medical Genetics.

Research Meredith looks forward to assisting the team in the analysis of CTCF genetic variants and the phenotypic spectrum in CTCF-Related Disorder.
